Volunteering in support of an orphaned Humboldt flying squirrel in need of nourishment.
A litter of orphaned gray foxes preparing for their transport to Chintimini Wildlife Center.
Two California ground squirrels entering pre-release, nearing their time to return to the wild and prepare their burrows and food stores for winter.
This western gray baby was so dehydrated and emaciated upon intake, he needed to be rehydrated via subcutaneous injection. That moment when he finally finds his appetite and is enjoying his first diluted formula! Joyous.
Jimmy the habituated Douglas squirrel who was relocated to our sanctuary by the forest service. He was able to enjoy this pre-release enclosure (and the exercise wheel!) for several weeks before being released. The only scenario where relocating a habituated wild squirrel might have a happy ending for the squirrel. Squirrels should not be relocated without support such as this.
